Vancouver Transportation
Vancouver transportation tricks... the fastest, the most scenic or the most fun ways of getting around the city? There are many options and it all depends on where you want to go and what you need to do. Among those many options are the basics, like public transit, car, bike and walking. Find out more... Vancouver Transit The best thing about transit is you never have to worry about parking! Planning the trip is very easy, online before you head out or call Translink 604-953-3333 if you're in a jam. Translink runs all the public transit in Vancouver. This means buying a ticket on the bus allows you to transfer to other buses, Skytrain and Seabus without paying anything extra. What is the Seabus you ask? And there's a Skytrain? As in a train that has tracks in the sky? Find out about the different 'modes' of Vancouver transportation by transit. NEW: It's now much easier to get to the airport! Skytrain has expanded service as of August 2009 to Richmond and Vancouver International Aiport (YVR). Biking in Vancouver I like to ride my bike, rain, snow or shine. You get to see a whole different area of the city from a bike’s eye-view: tiny, quiet parks, beautiful residential gardens and some spectacular random views of the mountains.Being out of doors and away from traffic on Vancouver's great system of bike paths is my favourite type of Vancouver transportation, no worries about traffic jams and lots of fresh air. On the Seawall with BC Place and False Creek in the background. There is room for improvement in the city's cycle network (tips and tricks for safely getting there), but overall it's a good place to bike in. The cars are learning to share the road. And if you have a long distance to go or a steep hill to climb, just take your bike on Vancouver transit. Buses, Skytrain and Seabus are easy to use and you don't have to pay extra to take your bicycle along. The various parts of Vancouver's transportation system keep getting easier to use together. Getting Around Vancouver And then there's a few unusual alternatives. Like a gondola ride up Grouse Mountain, a ferry ride to Vancouver Island, kayaking in Salmon Arm and a horse-drawn carriage ride through Stanley Park. The choice is yours!
